Shattered Glass is a conductorless string ensemble that fuses the beauty and precision of an orchestra with the raw energy of a punk rock band. The group will perform at Stephens Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 6.

From the ensemble’s inception in 2012, Shattered Glass has been musician operated and fiercely dedicated to changing the face of classical music through member-chosen programming, rotating leadership and collective artistic direction.

This fresh and exciting approach to all aspects of performance has led to a wide array of opportunities: multiple self-governed Midwest tours, performances at high profile events such as at TEDxEAST, a Carnegie Hall premiere at Zankel Hall in 2013, and a performance in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in 2014 featuring violin soloist Alexander Markov.

Equally active in educational outreach, Shattered Glass has worked with hundreds of young artists at schools and programs in Iowa, New York, New Jersey, Illinois and Michigan.

Shattered Glass’ 2017-18 season includes the release of its premiere album featuring the works of three bleeding edge composers, the group’s first music video and performances in Pennsylvania, Iowa and New York City.

Stephens Auditorium will also be hosting another Sips & Symphony event featuring some area beer and wine vendors. More information to is available at the Iowa State Center ticket office.

Tickets to the show range from $25 to $45 and are available at the ISC ticket office, or by phone at 800-745-3000.
