WASHINGTON — Senator Chuck Grassley said Monday that Iowans have until Jan. 1, 2017, to submit requests for tickets to the 58th Presidential Inauguration Swearing-In Ceremony through his office. Iowans interested in requesting tickets should submit their names and contact information on Grassley’s website: http://www.grassley.senate.gov/2017-presidential-inauguration.
The Presidential Inauguration will be held on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017. Tickets can be requested through congressional offices, or the ceremony can be viewed from other parts of the National Mall.
Every member of Congress will receive an allocation of tickets to the swearing-in-ceremony. Grassley’s tickets will be distributed through a lottery. Offices of the Iowa congressional delegation will share with each other the names of those who receive tickets to ensure that tickets are disseminated to as many interested Iowans as possible.
“Inaugurations are celebrations that not only demonstrate the peaceful transfer of power that our Constitution dictates, but also the great power of individual Americans’ rights and responsibilities of citizenship,” Grassley said. “I look forward to seeing the many Iowans in Washington who will be on hand to witness the swearing in of our 45th president.”
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) handles tickets and information to other related events, such as Inaugural balls and the Inaugural parade. It’s expected that tickets and information about those events will be available soon on JCCIC’s website: http://www.inaugural.senate.gov/.
