APL Unplugged: Four Shillings Short

Enjoy live Celtic, folk, and world music performed by Four Shillings Short form 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 19 in the Ames Public Library Auditorium. Their fantastic collection of world instruments includes hammered and mountain dulcimer, mandolins, renaissance woodwinds, bouzouki, recorders, sitar, tin whistles, banjo, percussion and psaltery.

Recovery Through the Arts

The eighth-annual Recovery through the Arts program will be presented at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, at the NAMI Wellness Center, 416 Douglas Ave., Suite 205. Come enjoy the written and spoken work as well as arts and crafts that Wellness Center clients have created during the year. All are welcome for refreshments and fun.

Knowledge on Tap

Lawrence McDonnell, ISU assistant history professor, will present “From Germans to Americans,” in which McDonnell discusses how military service and the experience of battle made Germans into Americans but also made them into a politically radicalized working class. The presentation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at Torrent Brewing Company, 504 Burnett Ave. It is open to all ages, minors less than 21 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
