DALLAS CENTER — The Sugar Grove Sunshine 4-H Club, based in Dallas Center hosted an Appreciation Dinner for 100 guests on Friday, April 7, in the Dallas Center-Grimes High School Commons.
As part of the dinner, the club commemorated 2017 as the Sugar Grove Sunshine 4-H Club’s centennial anniversary for its 100 years of service to Dallas County and Iowa as a whole.
Club members planned, prepared and served guests and families a meal in appreciation for the support and work they have done. The combination of nice linen cloths, pretty centerpieces, place cards, and programs created an atmosphere for a wonderful dining-room experience.
The club did a super job of serving dinner and entertaining guests, following the theme, Farm to Table, with members on various committees including decorations, and foods related to Dallas County farming. Also, some fun games and activities were planned to entertain youngsters arriving early. The program included members telling about the workshops and activities during the year and what they learned and enjoyed.
Nine new members were recognized as well as the officers who help lead the club throughout the year. Honors were given to the six graduating seniors: Haley Greiman, Mandy Heeren, Shelby Johnson, Katie Thompson, Cheyenne Whitney and Rebecca Coghlan. The award for the parent Going the Extra Mile went to Deb Smith, Adel and the Most Active 4-H member went to Randall Linn, Johnston.
