The City of Waukee is planning a large westward annexation and will hold a public hearing, concerning the application for voluntary annexation at the reguar City Council Meeting on June 5 at Waukee City Hall.

Brad Deets, Development Services Director for the City of Waukee, could not immediately be reached for comment.

According to the public hearing notice, the proposed annexation includes a little over 3,500 acres “more or less,” to the west of the current Waukee city limits. The map of annexation shows that the annexation goes west, stopping at County Highway R16 on the south side of Highway 6, goes as far north as 280th Street, and as far south as 303rd Place.

The annexation would go west right up to the agreed upon boundary with the City of Adel in a 28E agreement made in 2011.

All interested parties are invited to attend the meeting and address the City Council about the issue during the public hearing. The Council is scheduled to take action on the annexation following the public hearing section of the meeting.
