In the wake of the State Government going through big changes, Richard Dedor, of Urbandale has announced that he will be running for the Iowa House in Dist. 19. House District 19 includes Adel, Dallas Center, DeSoto, Dexter, Polk City, Redfield, Urbandale and Van Meter.
During his announcement on Wednesday, May 31, Dedor stated that he would be running as an independent.
“This campaign is all about the voters,” Dedor said in a news release. “That’s why I’ve opted to run as an independent. I don’t want party affiliations to get in the way of the opportunity we have to create a government that works for all the people.”
Dedor plans on reaching voters with live appearances, but also through online platforms. People were able to hear the announcement of his campaign live on Facebook.
According to a news release from Dedor’s campaign, he has served with Habitat for Humanity, the Trevor Project, and currently serves on the Central Iowa Alzheimer’s Association Board of Directors and on the Iowa Advisory Council for the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.
Dedor will host a meet-and-greet event at Penoach Winery in Adel on Saturday, June 10 at 11:30 a.m.
