Waukee continues to grow and to bring new businesses into the city. One of the newest businesses that is coming soon to Waukee is Car-X Tire and Auto.

Mark Goldner, the owner of several Car-X locations in the Des Moines area, celebrated the ground breaking on the new location at Alice’s Road and Olson Drive, with members of the Waukee Chamber of Commerce and city employees.

“I believe that it’s (Waukee) the new up-and-coming area,” Goldner said. “We’ve seen an opportunity that… folks were a little underserved with so much growth and stuff, so we decided that it would be a good fit for us. We like going to communities that are growing.”

Goldner also owns and operates stores in Ames, Des Moines, Altoona and Ankeny.

The new store in Waukee will be an “all-auto repair” location, but what they worked on at the store in Ankeny, which the new Waukee location will look a lot like, is creating a different customer experience.

The store will have a 70-inch TV, a coffee shop, free snacks and sodas, and “ESPN Zone,” which will have two TVs with sports playing.

“Auto repair, sometimes, isn’t the most pleasant thing to have done, but we just try to make it comfortable,” Goldner said. “We do also give customers rides back and forth to work and we’ll pick up cars and stuff if needed.

“We just try to make a little bit easier of an experience of trying to get your car repaired. Time is so much of a problem anymore with everybody that we just try to respect their time and make sure that we’re getting their vehicle done in a timely manner.”

The Waukee Car-X location, much like the location on 86th Street in Clive, will have express oil change lanes with no appointment required.

The new store will undergo construction over the summer.
