The Adel Rotary Club is funding a scholarship for a high-academic-achieving girl who has been orphaned by the current conflict in South Sudan to continue her education at the University of Juba in South Sudan’s capital city.

From among several qualified candidates, a young woman who has suffered so much through her life but who still aspires to better herself and her troubled country will be chosen by the Iowa Resource for International Service, the Adel Rotary Club’s partner in this program. The first year scholarship of $1,100 will cover tuition, books, fees, dormitory lodging, and meals for the entire year and is renewable for four years.

The scholarship is administered by IRIS, working with coordinators at the University of Juba to distribute the funds at the appropriate time each year. Rotary is in the forefront of international, regional and local service projects.
