1. Knights of Columbus Fish Fry in Adel
Friday, Jan. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel. Fried fish, a baked potato “with the fixings” and coleslaw will finish your plate. Grilled cheese anf fries will also be served. The meal costs $8 for adults and $5 for kids, with a $25 per immediate family meal maximum cost. The St. John’s Youth group will be serving desserts for a free will offering to top off the meal.
2. Bird Watching Basics
Sunday, Jan. 14 from 1-3 p.m. at the Waukee Public Library in the Coal Mine Room. This program is free. Are you looking for a new and exciting way to connect with Nature? Come learn the basics to identifying birds. Dallas County Board naturalist Mike Havlik will guide you through field marks, behavior and calls to help take the mystery out of backyard birds. We will be looking for live birds as well. Birds are pretty, usually abundant and you never know when you might see something unexpected. A great hobby for people of all ages and a fun social activity that connects across generations. Registration is required.
