The Iowa Department of Transportation has closed a portion of Highway 169 north of Adel because of flooding.


The road is closed between U.S. Highway 6 and Iowa Highway 44 (Adel).


A detour is in operation. See the attached map for the detour.


The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning for all or portions of the North Raccoon River from near Perry to Adel in Dallas and Greene Counties. The warning is in effect from now until midday Tuesday.


At 3:15 p.m. Saturday, June 23, the stage was at 18 feet, or 3 feet above the flood stage of 15 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue.


The river is forecast to continue falling and will go below the flood stage by midday on Tuesday.


Flooding is occurring over portions of Highway 169 north of Adel. Many rural roads are also affected.


The NWS encourages those who encounter a flooded area to turn around and find an alternate route to where they are going.
