1. Youth center backpack drive


5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at Perry Freedom Center.


The Perry Freedom Center will be hosting a back to school backpack drive for students in grades K-12. Parents and kids are welcome to come fill out a connection card to receive a backpack with supplies. The backpacks will be distributed according to grade levels. People who attend will also get to hear new information about the free after school programs the Perry Freedom Center offers through the school year. 2. Josh Davis Memorial Poker Run


10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at Perry Elks Lodge, 2823 Willis Ave.


The 8th annual Josh Davis Memorial Poker Run will return on Saturday, Aug. 11. Registration will be from 8-10 a.m. at Perry Elks Lodge. The kickstands will go up at 10:30 a.m. Stops include Fergs in Grand Junction, Toby K’s in Boone, Nite Hawk in Slater, Whistling Donkey in Woodward and Perry Elks Lodge. A meal, drawing and live auction will follow the ride.


3. Trent Miner Memorial Golf Tournament


9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at Perry Golf and Country Club.


Children of all ages are encouraged to come out to this event with their parents on Sunday, Aug. 12. Kids aged 13 years or younger will participate in the 9 a.m. tournament, consisting of nine holes. The cost is $10 per person with lunch included. Kids aged 14 years or older will participate in the 1 p.m. tournament, also consisting of nine holes. The cost is $25 per person and includes a meal. There will be various prizes given out as well as a silent auction.
