1. Yoga in the Park


8-9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Centennial Park in Granger.


Yoga in the Park is designed for improving community health, energizing and relaxation. You are encouraged to bring a mat or a towel as well as some water and clothes you can move in. No registration for the class is required, just show up ready to relax, release and enjoy. In the event of rain, yoga will be cancelled. Updates will be posted on the website and Facebook.


2. Ice cream social and movie


5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at United Methodist Church, 705 Chestnut St. Minburn.


We will serve beef burgers, hot dogs, beans, chips, desserts and ice cream from 5:30-7 p.m. at the church. “I Can Only Imagine” will begin at 7 p.m. Come join us for food, fellowship and a great movie.


3. Ice cream social


5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, 24529 J Ave. Adel.


Join Panther Creek Church of the Brethren for an ice cream social on Sunday, Aug. 19. The menu will include beefburgers, vegetables, chips, brownies, pie and homemade ice cream. A free will offering will be received to support ongoing Panther Creek Youth programming costs, registration and travel expenses for the 2022 National Youth Conference in Colorado.

4. Summer River Float: Raccoon River Paddling and Mussels


Saturday, Aug. 25, location TBD based on water levels, preregistration required.


Jennifer Kurth, ISU mussel researcher, brings us the story of Iowa’s mussels. The program begins with a presentation on mussel ecology, natural history and identification. Following a lunch break (bring your own lunch), participants are welcome to join us for a paddle down the ‘Coon. You will never paddle past a river sandbar again without taking note of what mussels are present and listening to the ecology lessons they teach. Preregistration is required for this program.
