KEOKUK — Great River Health System's new clinic in Keokuk is set to open Dec. 3.
People will be able to check out the clinic, located at 3285 Main St., Keokuk, ahead of time with a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 28.
GRHS purchased The Keokuk Clinic Jan. 1, 2012. It since has grown from a practice with three internal medicine physicians to more than a dozen health care providers in nine medical specialties. More will be added in 2019.
The new clinic is 19,000 square feet — four times larger than the existing Keokuk clinic.
“We reached the point that the size of our existing clinic was limiting the increasing services we wanted to provide to the Keokuk community,” said GRHS CEO and President Matt Wenzel. “Keokuk has been part of our service area for many years, and we are excited to open the new location and continue expanding our services.”
The new clinic — GRHS's first new construction project since Great River Klein Center opened in 2013 — has a central registration area for all services. The spacious waiting area features natural light and a replace.
The clinic has 23 examination rooms and three procedure rooms.
Physical therapy treatment will be available three days a week. Daily laboratory tests and X-rays will be performed in the clinic, as well as 3-D mammography and DEXA bone-density testing.
“We are opening 54 weeks after our ground-breaking ceremony,” said clinic manager Ashley Thomas, RN. “It has been a busy year. We are eager to show the community what we have built.”
In addition to primary care, the clinic will provide cardiology, gastroenterology, mental health, ophthalmology, orthopedic, podiatry, rheumatology, urology and women's health care.
It also will proved seven-day urgent care services with a walk-in clinic that provides treatment for sudden illnesses or injuries that require treatment but aren't considered emergencies. Urgent care hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
