December 27

A three vehicle personal injury accident occurred near the intersection of Nile Kinnick Drive S. and Bailey’s Grove Drive, Adel. Involved were Doyce M. Blomquist, 519 ½ S. 11th Street, Adel; James L. Cleven, 420 Baker Street, Minburn, and Colby O. Smith, 526 S. Jackson Street, Boone. All three vehicles were northbound on Nile Kinnick Drive S. Blomquist stopped and was waiting to turn onto Bailey’s Grove Drive. Cleven was behind Blomquist and Smith was behind Cleven. Smith did not see that Blomquist and Cleven were slowing and stopping for the turn. Smith rear ended Cleven, which pushed Cleven’s vehicle forward, causing it to strike Blomquist. Kimberly L. Paul, Adel, a passenger in the Cleven vehicle was transported by EMS. Damage to Blomquist’s vehicle is estimated at $700. Cleven’s vehicle sustained approximately $6,000 damage, and the vehicle operated by Smith sustained approximately $3,500 damage. Smith was cited for Failure to Stop in Safe and Assured Distance.

Saul Nevarez-Escobedo, age 47, 1820 5th Street, Perry, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-1st Offense.

Jessica M. Allsup, 1026 24th Street, Des Moines, reported a theft.

December 23

A property damage accident occurred at the intersection of S. 10th and Prairie Streets, Adel. Involved were Malcolm M. Orwenyo, 5515 Vista Drive, West Des Moines, and Marilyn K. Jungman, 507 S. 16th Street, Adel. Jungman was eastbound on Prairie Street. Orwenyo was southbound on S. 10th Street. Orwenyo slowed at the intersection and then entered Prairie Street, striking Jungman. Jungman’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 damage. Damage to Orwenyo’s vehicle is estimated at $2,000. Orwenyo was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.
