The Adel Public Library and Adel Quilting are pleased to announce a free joint program in the Adel Public Library Community Room on Saturday, July 19 at 11 a.m. called Corn and Khrushchev given by Liz Garst of Coon Rapids. This program has been funded by Humanities Iowa, a private, non-profit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. A cultural resource for Iowans since 1971, Humanities Iowa offers many cultural and historical programs and grants to Iowa’s communities.

Liz tells how it came to pass that Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev and his family visits the Garst family in 1959, and recalls fun stories from her personal memories as an 8-year-old participant.
