Your library is very excited to be hosting a Milk and Bookies Story Time to benefit the Adel Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Center as well as Children and Families of Iowa. This special event on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. Join us on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. to share some yummy treats and learn some fun holiday recipes. We miss watching Classic Movies on the big screen so we’ve decided to bring back Classic Movie Mondays. We’ll watch the beloved film "On Golden Pond" starring the incomparable Katherine Hepburn and Henry Fonda on Monday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m.; we’ll bring the popcorn! Believe it or not, it’s almost time for one of our favorite Friends of the Library fundraisers. Baskets may be brought to the library from Monday, Nov. 4 through Saturday Nov. 16. The auction and silent bidding will begin on Monday, Nov. 18.

The Brown Bag Book Club meets on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Noon to talk about "The Language of Flowers" by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Due to the holidays, our Evening Book Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 5 to talk about the novel "Those we Love Most" by Lee Woodruff. Morning Exercise Group meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 9 a.m. every week. Our new evening Fitness Group meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Dallas County Conservation will be at your library for a special story time on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Every Magnificent Monday at 4 p.m., we’ll have a different activity; the first Monday of the month is Lego League, the second Monday is a Mad Science group, the third Monday we’ll play Board Games, and the fourth Monday is a Crafternoon. Story Time for ages 3-5 years old will meet on Mondays, Toddler Time for children three and under will be held on Tuesdays, and Music Time for all preschoolers will meet on Thursdays. The first Thursday of each month will be a special LEGO: Duplo Story time instead of Music Time. Each class will begin at 10:30 a.m. and is sure to be lots of fun. The next Teen Advisory Board meeting for the fall will be on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. In September volunteers spent 158 hours working in the library. We are always looking for new volunteers and, if you’d like to donate your time and talents to your library, please call the library at 993-3510 and ask for the volunteer coordinator. The library will be closed in observance of Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11. We are also closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 for Thanksgiving.
