Adel soon could be the home of an AmericInn Hotel.

Discussions of a possible hotel will be held Tuesday, May 7 at 6 p.m. at the Adel Public Library where representatives from AmericInn, Three Rivers Hospitality and Apollo Development will be present to answer questions.

"We were working with several different brands following the very promising feasibility study results that the City, Chamber and local business owners paid for (at a cost of $5,750)," City Administrator Brett Klein said. "We have enjoyed working with AmericInn, and it is progressing to the point of hopeful construction this year."

The study, completed by Hospitality Marketers International, Inc. in November 2011, looked at four possible sites: a south site along Highway 169, a site at South 14th St., a location north of Adel off of Court St. and North 11th St. and a preferred site located along Highway 6 between 6th and 7th St. However, a location selection will be an individual development decision and has not been made at this point.

Although the concept is still in its inception, Klein said the majority of individuals seem to be in favor of having a hotel in the city.

"Most think it is well overdue between athletic events and tournaments, the Raccoon River Valley Trail (RRVT) now being the largest paved, looped trail in the country, weddings, funerals, graduations and reunions," Klein said.

Additional questions on the meeting, as well as the project, can be direct to the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce at 515-993-5472 or chamber@adelpartners.com.
