Minburn July 3rd and 4th celebration

Minburn is hosting a celebration starting Thursday, July 3 and continuing through July 4.

Thursday’s activities include a food stand, touch the truck event and the band Ma Deuce playing from 7-10 p.m. on the stage.

Friday features the main parade at 9 a.m. followed by horseshoes at 11:30 a.m., obstacle course (12-5 p.m.), inflatable slide (12-5 p.m.), circus train (12-5 p.m.), child’s ferris wheel (12-5 p.m.), all wheels show (1-4:30 p.m.), kids pedal pullers (1 p.m.), bean bag toss (1 p.m.), bingo (1:30 p.m.), face painting, pine wood derby races (2-4:30 p.m.), puppet show (5 p.m.) and fireworks at dusk at the ball park.

Waukee July 4th celebration

Waukee is having an all-day independence celebration Friday, July 4. Activities start at 2 p.m. with the annual parade through downtown, ending at Centennial Park where the fun continues for the rest of the day and night. Inflatable activities and a new zip line ride will be available as well as food vendors. A band will start playing at 6 p.m. followed fireworks.

Adult Wilderness Trek at Kuehn Conservation Area

Join us as we drag out all the gear of a backpacking trek and examine the logistics of back country travel. The second half of this gathering will be a walk about on the trails of Kuehn. We will conclude with a campfire discussion, affording potential 2015 trekkers an opportunity to ask questions. Registration is required for this program.
