Dallas County Hospital will be holding a variety of events starting in March including a Walk With Ease Program, community breakfast, a health insurance enrollment event, and is accepting applications for their 2014 high school scholarship program.

The Walk With Ease Program begins on Monday, April 7. Two classes times will be offered – 10-11 a.m. or 3-4 p.m. The group will meet three times a week (Monday, Wednesday & Fridays) for six weeks on the second floor of the hospital’s south atrium. Cost for the six week program is just $15. Walk With Ease is an exercise program that can reduce pain and improve overall health. If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes without increased pain, you can have success with Walk With Ease. Besides helping you walk safely and comfortably, the Walk With Ease Program will help you get in shape, improve your flexibility, strength and stamina, and reduce pain. Space is limited. Dallas County Hospital would like to invite the public to sign up for a free Breakfast, courtesy of the Dallas County Hospital Foundation on Tuesday, March 18 at 8:30 a.m. in the Community Room. Besides enjoying a breakfast buffet, attendees will be provided information on the healthcare services available right here in Perry, updated information on the impact the DCH Foundation has made in Perry and surrounding communities, and additional health information! Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa will host an additional marketplace enrollment event - providing assistance to individuals enrolling in the new health insurance marketplace - at Dallas County Hospital on Thursday, March 27th from 9 am – 5 pm in the hospital’s South Atrium. The VNS Navigators will be on-site to help individuals understand health coverage options and enroll in a Marketplace plan that meets their needs and fits their budget. Appointments are encouraged and may be made by calling 515-288-1516. Navigators estimate the enrollment process will take about 45 minutes, provided individuals bring all necessary documentation.

The Dallas County Hospital Foundation has announced that it is now accepting applications for their 2014 High School level scholarship program as well as their 2014 College Level scholarship program. Scholarships of $500 to $1,000 will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in healthcare and college level students entering their final year of curriculum in a healthcare related field. Students must reside in or attend school in Dallas County. Applications are due April 15, 2014.
