Recently Niman Ranch and a team of celebrity chefs treated Niman Ranch farmers to a gourmet meal in their honor.

The 15th Annual event was started as a way to give farmers an opportunity to feast on their pork.

The night highlighted 23 students who received scholarships totalling $37,000.

Since 2006, more than $175,000 has been awarded to 90 students.

Noah Taylor, son of Niman Ranch farmers Dan and Ila Jean Taylor of Bouton, received top honors. Taylor received the $4,000 David and Diane Serfling/Niman Ranch Memorial Scholarship and plans on attending Northwest Missouri State University this fall majoring in agronomy and ag studies.

He eventually would like to come back to the family farm and raise Niman Ranch pigs.

He would like to gear his herd toward top quality purebreds like Durocs, Chester Whites, and Berkshires and also show quality pigs to 4-H and FFA members.
