Waukee’s top auditioned choir, A Cappella, recently spent some time recording a few Christmas carols and songs for a new CD. They’re not planning on climbing the Billboard Top 100 chart, but they are planning on helping some children in need.
"We wanted to choose a charity or cause this holiday season to give to and were thinking of ways to raise money," said Dustin Eubanks, A Cappella Choir President. "We figured recording a CD that could be given as a gift for a $10 donation would be a good way for us to do that. "We will be taking any donations, but a $10 donation gets you a CD with numerous carols, two full length compositions, and five solos."
So far the group has raised close to $2,300.
The CDs will be available at the annual Festival of Peace concert hosted by the high school vocal music department each year. The concert features a number of ensembles from the high school, including A Cappella, as well as members of the Des Moines Orchestra. This year’s concert performances were held on Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7.
