Iowa’s world-famous RAGBRAI is joining with the founders of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition to create a unique event combining the love of bacon and the love of bike riding. The inaugural BACooN RIDE will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2014, and will cover 71-miles of the Raccoon River Valley Trail. Starting and ending at the trail head in Waukee, the bacon-lover’s ride will feature numerous bacon stops with delicious treats from the BACooN RIDE menu, along with a bacon-themed lunch.

Waukee will play a special part in this inaugural ride with the city being the starting and ending point for the ride. Check out the details below for all of the festivities both Waukee residents and riders can enjoy the weekend of the ride:

• Camping in Centennial Park Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28 for registered riders

• Friday beverage garden at Centennial Park from 5:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. and live band "The Swing Crew" from 7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

• Saturday morning breakfast at Centennial Park from 6:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. featuring a bacon and egg breakfast taco from the Iowa Egg Council and the Waukee Fire Department

• Saturday night entertainment provided by Mickey’s Irish Pub Waukee in Mickey’s parking lot
