James Schofiled Carey, 86 of Adel died Monday, April 3. A grave-side service will be held at a later date.


Jim was born Sept. 1, 1930 in Chetek, Wisc. to Jim and Bessy Carey. He was united in marriage to Karen K. Jenkins.


Jim spent most of his adult life in the Adel, Perry area. Jim worked at and retired from Oscar Meyer. After retirement, Jim went back to school and received certificates in small animal lab tech, electrical and boiler room maintenance .


Jim was an avid boxing fan and coached many youth in the art. He loved anything outdoors, sports, hunting and messing with cars.


He is survived by his wife, Karen, children Laura (Alan) Weisert, Maren (Rick) Gilbert, Carla (Scott) Trentz, Kyle (Tiffany) Carey, Trevis (Dian) Carey, Tahnee (George) Durin, grandchildren Ali Rae and Andrew (Katlyn) Weisert, Tyler (Lindsey) Gilbert, Chad (Kailynn) Gilbert, Brant Gilbert, Aaron Simmer, Gauge, Lilly and Sophie Carey, Quincy Carey, Nick, Lauren and George Durin, great grandchildren Peyton and Lucas Gilbert and Lane Gilbert. Also, sister Betty Zahorski.


He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Jimmy and Craig, granddaughter Molly Simmer and sisters Dorris, Ann and Kathryn.
