Jack Anthony Carpe died peacefully on May 6, 2017 at the age of 83.
Jack is survived by his son, Brian (Pamela); grandchildren, Brandon (Mackenzie), Zachary, Heather and Hillary; and great-grandchildren, Cadance, Skyler and Rogue. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, parents, Albert and Ann Carpe; brother, James Carpe and daughter, Stacy Carpe.
Jack was born on March 23, 1934 to Albert and Ann Carpe. He graduated from East High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Drake University. After graduating from Drake, he enlisted in the Army where he spent the next two years serving our country. He married Patricia (“Pat”) Carpe, in 1959. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Waukee, Iowa. Jack started his professional career as an underwriter at National Travelers; he retired from Employers Modern Life. Jack and Pat brought two children, Stacy and Brian, into their home and raised them with unending love. His family remembers him as a kind and loving father/grandfather who was always there for them.
Jack loved being outdoors and spent as much time as he could outside. In the summer, he could be found out in his garden, tending to the green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and corn. On the weekends, he would pack the family up to go to Rock Creek Lake to stay in the family cabin. He loved to fish and would be out on the lake with Brian most of the day, sharing his love with his son.
A visitation will be held at Iles Funeral Home in Dallas Center on Thursday, May 11 from 5-7 p.m. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, May 12 at Waukee Christian Church at 11 a.m, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jack’s life.
