A graveside service for Richard James will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn. Pastor David Weesner, a cousin to Richard, will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dick’s four grandsons Ryan James, Kody Casperson, Scott James, Travis James and two cousins Steve James and Bill James. Honorary pallbearers are Dick’s granddaughter’s Danielle James and Casie James. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry. A memorial has been established in Richards name and may be left at the funeral Home.
Richard Maurice James was born Dec. 7, 1939 in Perry, Iowa the son of Paul and Thelma (Snyder) James. He graduated from Washington Township School in the class of 1957. On January 19, 1958 he married the love of his life, Rose Rittgers in rural Perry.
Dick was a life long resident of the Perry and Minburn area. He worked for forty-two and one half years at the John Deere Plant in Ankeny, before his retirement. He loved to go camping and most of all loved to spend time with his grandkids and his family. Dick was a member of the Washington Chapel Church of Christ of rural Perry.
Survivors include his wife Rose James of Minburn, Iowa; three sons Randy James of West Des Moines, Iowa, Tim (Donna) James of Perry, Iowa, Mark (Tammy) James of Minburn, Iowa; one brother Robert (Leora) James of Bouton, Iowa; one sister Faye (Terry) Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa; his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren Jackson and Skyler James. Preceding Richard in death were his parents and one brother Raymond James.
