Charles (Chuck) Hillman, age 74, latest residence DeSoto, Iowa, passed on May 13, 2017, before he was able to return to New Jersey, which he considered “home.”


He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Ruth; daughter, Kim, daughter, Debbie (and husband, Kelly), six grandchildren, Jessica (Carlos), Melanie (Josh), Matthew, Ben, Shayna and Natalie, and nine great-grandchildren; Samantha, Carlos, Jr., Christian, Alicia, Braxton, Gabriel, Aurora, Eli, and Kole. He is also survived by sister, Carol Hillman McElhaney Mendicino (Alessio) and brother, Hank (JoAnn), along with many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.


He is predeceased by his mother, Mildred and father, Rudolph; sisters Evelyn Rose, Nancy Elsessor, Joan Fabrizio, Audrey Leese, Barbara Grzenda, Patricia Cadwalder Todd, Freda Clark, along with brothers Rudolph, Herbert, Donald, Richard and Robert.


Chuck worked many years as an auto upholsterer for Norman’s & Kisthardt’s, then owned and operated his own business, C & R Upholstery in Toms River, N.J., then bought another business in Freeland, Penn., Ken’s Wooden Nickel. His favorite hobbies were fishing and woodworking, and he spent many pleasurable hours in his garage. No services are planned per Chuck’s wishes.
