Delbert Dean Holloway, 84, son of Lafeyette & Lena (Couch) Holloway, was born March 16, 1929 in Linden, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

He attended school in Linden. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 - 1952, serving overseas on the U.S.S. Begor as a Machinist’s Mate Second Class. Following his discharged, he made his home near Linden farming for a few years with his brother. Also during this time he worked as a ferrier. He then worked as a machinist for Strait Engineering in Adel, retiring from there in the mid-1990’s. He purchased his farm south of Panora around 1970 and lived there until his death.

Delbert enjoyed traveling, especially to Oregon to visit family every year. He loved cutting his own firewood, he had his own pilots license and loved flying, cookouts at the campground, horses, and watching trains. Delbert is survived by his brother, Willard Holloway of Linden; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Alice and Hazel; brothers, Harold and Howard.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora, Iowa. Burial will be in West Linn Cemetery, rural Linden, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
