Dear Editor:

On our way from Omaha back home to Ontario we had a pretty funny encounter with local state patrol. This email was sent to Iowa State Patrol with the photo attached: “I can’t read the signature of this particular officer (ID No. 220) on the speeding ticket yesterday but he was pretty good about me taking a photo of my wife, Kelly, in his squad car getting a ticket en-route between Omaha back home to Ontario.

My in-laws in Omaha got a kick out of it. Thanks for serving and protecting Dallas County! It was our pleasure to meeting a good-humored courteous local officer and to contribute to local fund raising efforts. He was a good example to our 4 kids in the car. We always make friends with the locals everywhere we go. Apparently the highways in Iowa are no exception. It was a legitimate speeding ticket. Hope the money is put to good use. See you on the next trip (hopefully not).
