Q: What are the communication outlets the BCSD typically uses?

A: The BCSD has many ways of communicating with families, so you can often find information on a variety of sources. We want to keep people aware of information that will be important to you and your students, so we often place this information on multiple sources. Here are some examples.

Twitter: Follow Superintendent Brad Manard @brad_manard. Other Twitter accounts include: Boone Schools @BooneSchools, Boone High School @BooneToreadors, and Boone Middle School @BMSToreadors. A showcase of innovative technology use in education by Boone students and teachers is available at @DigitalDorways. Short, quick shots of important information is often posted on these Twitter sites.

Facebook: Facebook pages for all schools provide a variety of information and often these are also shared on the district Facebook page. BCSD Facebook pages include: Lincoln-Page Little ToREADors, Franklin Elementary, Boone Middle School, Boone High School, and the District Facebook page at Boone Community School District.

Toreador Times: Every Friday afternoon, the district distributes our digital weekly newsletter to anyone with an activated email account on our student information system Infinite Campus. This newsletter includes district information, celebrations of student and staff accomplishment, special events in each building, a weekly schedule of events, and the superintendent’s Weekly Question.

Weekly Question: The superintendent’s Weekly Question of interest to families and community members is also published in the Boone-New Republican and on their website.

Digital Backpack: Available in the weekly Toreador Times, the district website at boone.k12.ia.us, and on the BCSD District Facebook, the Digital Backpack is an online resource to inform and distribute information to parents on school sponsored activities as well as non-profit organizations and community events throughout the year.

Emergency Messenger: This is an immediate messenger service for important information like school cancellations, closure, or other important school announcements. Families with an activated email account on our student information system Infinite Campus will receive Emergency Messages by email, text, and/or voicemail.

BooneTV:The student run and developed television station BooneTV provides information on student and school events that is accessible on their website www.boonetv.com or their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/boonetelevision.

KWBG: Special thanks to KWBG for promoting and reporting BCSD events on their website and Facebook page.
