Van Meter keeps undefeated streak going after overtime win against AHSTW (Avoca) during the first round of playoffs last Friday night.
The Bulldogs played at home again in an intense match-up against the Vikings that ended in a 21-14 overtime win. The Bulldogs are now 10-0 and the Vikings ended their season 8-2.
Carson Rhodes started the lead for the Bulldogs with a touchdown. Rhodes led in points for the Bulldogs with a total of two touchdowns. Rhodes was also the leading rusher for the game, with 37 rush attempts for 223 yards with an average of six yards per carry.
Quarterback Blake Fryar also had one of the Bulldogs' three touchdowns. Fryar had 58.3 percent pass completion for 138 yards and 9.9 per completion.
Anthony Lowman was the leading receiver Friday night, as he constantly looked to gain yards for the Bulldogs. Lowman had a total of six receptions and 54 yards with and average of nine yards per catch.
Sam Thompson led in tackles with seven total. Thompson had four solo tackles and six tackle assists. Thompson also had the only interception of the game for the Bulldogs.
The exciting game ended up going into overtime. The Bulldogs ended it with Rhodes scoring his second touchdown from 27 yards out. Drew Gordon made the extra point leaving the final score at 21-14, while the Bulldog defense was able to get the stop and secure the victory.
The Bulldogs will now play in Quarterfinal Playoff game against Madrid at the Van Meter High School at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs and the Tigers last played one another two weeks ago, in their last regular season game. The Bulldogs came home with the win, 31-24. That game has been the Tigers' only loss so far the season.
