Waukee will move on to the Quarterfinal Playoff game Friday night against Dowling Catholic at Williams Stadium at 7 p.m.
The Warriors beat Southeast Polk last Friday, Oct. 29, 52-21 to move on to the second round, while the Maroons beat Johnston 41-6.
The two teams met earlier this season with the Warriors bringing home a loss. The game was held on Sept. 19, and ended with the Maroons dominating the Warriors 37-0.
Warrior quarterback Drew Johnson had 35.5 percent completed passes for 64 yards and 10.7 yards per completion. In comparison, the Maroons' leader in passing, for this game, was Ben Wilson with 71.4 percent completed passes. Wilson had 101 yards for 10.1 yards per completion. He also threw two touchdowns, the longest being 24 yards.
The leader in rushing yards was Jordan Perry with 36 yards and an average of 2.4 yards per carry. For the Maroons, Cole Deskin led in rushing yards. Deskin had 117 yards with 9.8 yards per carry. He also had one rushing touchdown for a total of 57 yards.
The last time the two teams met, the leading receiver for the Maroons was Jacob Zachary with three receptions for a total of 27 yards and nine yards per catch. The second leading Maroon was Jack Koemer with one reception of 24 yards and a touchdown pass from Johnson for the total 24 yards.
The leader in receiving catches for the Warriors was Sam DeVries with two receptions for 28 yards and 14 yards per catch. Zach Eaton had one reception for 20 yards.
Koemer was also the leading scorer for the Maroon with two touchdowns. One touchdown was from a reception and the other was from and interception return for 30 yards. Unfortunately, the Warriors were not able to keep up and did not have a single point during this game.
For tackles, Warriors Jake Morrison and Nolan Roethler led the team with seven total tackles each. Morrison had six solo tackles while Roethler had seven. Morrison also had two tackle assists.
Willie O'Hara had nine total tackles to the Maroons and led the team. Of O'Hara's tackles, eight were solo tackles and two were tackle assists. He was followed closely by Mitchell Riggs with a total of 8.5 tackles, seven of which were solo tackle and three that he assisted with.
The two teams will meet once again at the neutral location of Williams Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. for the Quarterfinal Round of Playoffs.
