Woodward-Granger's volleyball season officially ended two weeks ago (Oct. 27) with a loss to Grundy Center after playing five full sets (2-3).
The Hawks were able to finish the regular season as undefeated conference champions going 8-0 and finished their season with an overall record of 31-8. The Hawks went on to the Regional Semifinal game, where they were defeated in a hard fought match to the Spartans.
According to www.quikstatsiowa.com, Olivia McCune led the Hawks with 342 kills and 661 attack attempts for a kill efficiency of .395 this season. The second leader for the Hawks was Mary Hansen with a .274 kill efficiency. Hansen had 247 kills and 592 attack attempts. Both McCune and Hansen had the highest number of kills per set as well, McCune had 3.49 and Hansen had 2.49. By the end of the season the Hawks had a total of 983 kills and 2,514 attack attempts for a .259 kill efficiency.
The Hawks had almost as many assists by the end of the season. By the final set, the Hawks had racked up 942 assists for 9.61 assists per set. Alyssa Bice had the most assists for the Hawks. She had 446 for and average of 4.55 assists per set. Along with Bice, Hansen had the second most assists as well. Hansen had 372 assists for 3.76 assists per set.
The two leaders in digs per set were Kara Bodensteiner and Bree Lesch. Bodensteiner had 3.55 digs per set with 341 total digs. Lesch led with 3.64 digs per set but only had 324 digs by the end of the season. As a team, the Hawks completed the season with 1,376 digs for 14.04 digs per set.
By the end of the semifinal regional game, the Hawks had 182 blocks as a team. The team had 143 block assists and only 39 solo blocks for a total of 1.86 blocks per set. McCune led the team in blocks as well, with a total of 50 blocks. Of her 50 blocks, 38 were block assists and 12 were solo blocks. McCune average .51 blocks per set.
The Hawk with with the second most total blocks was Julie Pitman with 43 blocks for an average of .46 blocks per set. With the team blocks combined, the Hawks had 182 blocks on the season. Per set, the team average 1.86 blocks, 143 of these blocks came from block assists and 39 came from solo blocks.
McCune was also the leader in serving efficiency with .923. Of McCune's 338 serves, 312 were successful with 57 of them being aces. Bodensteiner was right behind her with a serving efficiency of .922. Bodensteiner had 377 successful serves and 48 aces for an average of .5 aces per set. As a team, 1,808 of 2,017 serves went successfully over the net for the Hawks allowing them to have a kill efficiency of .896.
McCune's 57 aces allowed her to have .58 aces per set by the end of the season. Bodensteiner and Lesch both had 48 aces, but Lesch led with an average of .54 aces per set. With a total of 269 aces, the Hawks had 2.74 aces per set by the end of their season.
