Van Meter and Woodward-Granger wrestled one another at the annual WCAC wrestling tournament, along with Panorama, Ogden, AC/GC and West Central Valley. The tournament was hosted by the Hawks.

The Bulldogs went 5-0 at the tournament. The Hawks had only one loss; to the Bulldogs. During the dual between the Bulldogs and Hawks, the final score was 38-33 with the Bulldogs taking the win.

Alex Firch was the first Bulldog to wrestle in this dual. At 132 pounds, he won by a fall over Jayden Dorenkamp.

Bryce Cole gained the next three points for the Bulldogs when he wrestled Hawks’ Cole Carman and won by a 9-5 decision. Caleb Swalla won in the 145 pound weight class when he beat Gabriel Yingst by decision (8-5).

The Hawks first six points were from a forfeit by the Bulldogs in the 152 pound weight class. Austin Scharlou was the Hawk meant to wrestle in this class.

At 160 pounds was Caleb Button who beat Cale Pritchett by a fall in an amazing 16 seconds.

The next six team points went the Hawks when Aaron Sperling (170) pinned Noah Hale in 2:32. The 182 and 195 weight classes went to the Hawks as well. Tanner Vermaas pinned Colton Golwitzer 5:56 minutes into the match. Bulldog Gabe Button was then pinned in under a minute by Cody Fisher.

By the end of the WCAC meet Vermaas had also set a new school record in wins for W-G. He sits at 131 after last Saturday's meet.

At 220 pounds, Tyler Erdman, broke the Hawks winning streak when he won by a 4-0 decision over Tyler Lawernson. After a fall in 1:51, Alex Kirton of the Hawks ended up beating Derrin Sesker in the 285 pound match.

The Bulldogs won the next two matches. Colby Weiderholt won at 106 pounds against Hunter Pierce by a 17-2 technical fall in 5:15. This allowed the Bulldogs to gain another five team points. Tyler Haynes then received six points for the team when he pinned Dilynn Lewiston during the 113 pound match.

At 120 was Zane Dodson for the Bulldogs and Tate Lettow for the Hawks. Dodson ended up losing to Lettow by a 10-4 decision. This gave the Hawks their final three points. In the last match of the dual, Cade Costlow pinned Colt Palmer for the final six team points.

The Bulldogs beat the Hawks by just five points (38-33) which was the closest final score for both teams of the WCAC tournament.
