The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers hosted the IHSAA 2A Section 5 sectionals tournament on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Tigers were one of six teams to compete. The other five teams included, Atlantic, Harlan, Kuemper Catholic, Perry and Van Meter. The top two wrestlers of each of each weight class will be moving on to the district tournament.

The Tigers will have two wrestlers move on to the district tournament in Harlan on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Andrew Flora is the first Tiger that will be moving on. Flora won the 106 pound weight class and earned 21 team points for the Tigers. Flora's first match of the day was a bye and he was immediately move into the semifinal round.

Flora won by a 17-4 major decision over Benjamin Schmitz from Kuemper Catholic in his semifinal match. His last match of the day was for first place where Flora took on Colby Wiederholt of Van Meter. Flora beat Wierderholt by a 7-1 decision to put him in first.

Nolan Harsh is the only other Tiger that will be moving on to districts. Harsh wrestled at 138 pounds and placed first in the weight class. Just as Flora did, Harsh received a bye in the quarterfinal round.

When put in the semifinal match, Harsh wrestled Bryce Cole from Van Meter. He was able to pin Cole 3:19 into the match. Harsh then took on Oscar Olmos (Harlan). Harsh place first when he won the match by an 11-2 major decision over Olmos.

The Tigers ended up finishing sixth in team points at the meet with a total of 122 points.

These two Tigers will be moving on to the district tournament in Harlan on Feb. 11. The Tigers will be wrestling alongside eight other teams. The meet will begin at noon.
