Five Class 2A wrestlers moved on to the quarterfinal round of the State Wrestling Tournament today, Feb. 17. Adel-DeSoto-Minburn had both of their wrestlers in the quarterfinals, Perry had two and Woodward-Granger had one.
Andrew Flora wrestled first for the A-D-M Tigers. He took on Jack Thomsen (Union) and won by a 5-4 decision. He will be moving on to the semifinal round later this evening.
Tiger Nolan Harsh will not be moving on to the semifinals. He lost his quarterfinal match to Skyler Noftsger from Ballard by a 6-0 decision. Harsh will now be wrestling i the consolation match against jake Recker from Beckman Catholic.
Perry Bluejay Kaleb Olejniczak lost his quarterfinal match to Aden Reeves from Albia by fall in 2:45. He will now move on to the consolation bracket to wrestle Gabe Lewis from Denver-Tripoli.
At 120 pounds was Zachary Thompson for the Bluejays. Thompson will be moving on to the semifinals after winning his quarter final match against Sinjin Briggs (Gilbert). Thompson beat Briggs with a 9-1 major decision.
Woodward-Granger Hawk's Cody Fisher will be the last of the Class 2A to be moving on to the semifinals. He beat Jackson Mikkelsen from Creston/O-M by a 5-2 decision.
The Bluejays have one other wrestler already in the consolation matches, the Hawks have two.
Both the consolation matches and semifinal matches will be held later this evening.
