The Waukee Warriors girls’ track team ran their second meet of the season on Monday, Mar. 6 at the University of Northern Iowa for the Dickinson Relays.


Elma Vojic placed fifth in the 200 meter dash. The Warriors finished the race with a time of 27.04 seconds. Emily McKibben also ran the 200 meter dash, she ran a 28.08 to place 20th. Amy Wieland was the third Warrior in the race, she finished in 39th with a time of 28.70 seconds.


Three Warriors were in the 400 meter dash as well. Janjay Peters placed 26th with a 1:05.49, Jessica Caraway had a time of 1:05.74 to place 29th and Molly Konopik ran a 1:06.43 and finished in 34th.


Sydney Winger, Hannah Schau and Lauren Nelson all ran the 60 meter hurdles. Winger ran a 9.15 and finished in second place overall. Schau was right behind Winger with a time of 9.24 that put her in third place. With a 9.36 Nelson finished the race in fifth.


Logan Akason ran the 800 meter run in 2:20.07, which put her in first place. Just under two second behind Akason was Lilly Campbell. Campbell finished in third place with a time of 2:21.53. Warrior Maggie Liard also ran the 800 meter, she finished the race in 2:29.65 to place tenth.


Warrior Karson Foley ran a 5:12.25 in the 1500 meter race to finish in 13th. Fellow Warrior Sydney Schaffer placed 16th in the race with a time of 5:12.62. Miranda Boyle followed in 19th with a time of 5:15.62.


Foley and Boyle ran the 3000 meter race as well, along with Odessa Neeley. Foley ran a 11:15.24 for 8th place, Boyle finished in 16th with a time of 11:28.57 and Neeley placed 28th with her time of 12:00.14.


The Warriors’ Chloe Havermann placed seventh after a high of 5’2” in the high jump. Nelson placed 11th in the event with a five foot even jump.


In 16th place of the long jump event was Peters with a 15’9” jump. With a final jump of 15’5” Vojic placed 23rd in the long jump. Addie Drees had a final of 14’9” that put her in 47th place in the event.


With a throw of 38’9” Moe Nealey placed fifth in the shot put. Warrior Kaitlyn Galetich placed 18th in the shot put with her throw of 35 feet. Abbey Myers was the third Warrior in the shot put event. Myers finished in 54th with her throw of 31’3”.


All three of the Warriors’ relays teams placed in the top ten of the meet. The 4x200 relay team placed fourth with a time of 1:49.54. Finishing in sixth place was the 4x400 relay; they had a time of 4:16.82. The 4x800 relay team placed first and finished with a time of 9:42.54.


The Warriors had a meet at Warburg College on Tuesday, March 7. Their next meet is on Monday, March 13 at Iowa State University.
