The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its 2017 All-State Boys Basketball teams for Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A Tuesday, Mar. 14. Three local boys basketball players were awarded as All-State selections.


Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tiger Tajen Ross was chosen as a Third Team All-State member in class 3A. Ross had 506 points and averaged 22 points per game to lead the timers this season. He was the third leader of rebounds for the Tigers with a total of 100 and an average of 4.3 rebounds per game. Ross finished the season with 34 assists, 21 steals and two blocks.


Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs’ Trevor Grove was also recognized as a Class 3A Third Team All-State selection. Grove led the Mustangs in points this season with a total of 384. The senior averaged 15.4 points per game. With his 27 offensive rebounds and 119 defensive rebounds this season, Grove led the Mustangs with 146 rebounds this year. Grove also had 40 assists, 33 steals and 24 blocks on the season.


Jacob Rau, of the Waukee Warriors, was recognized as a Class 4A Second Team All-State selection. Rau was the second leading scorer for the Warriors. He averaged 11.9 points per game and finished the season with a total of 262 points. Rau was the leader of rebounds for the Warriors with an outstanding 222. He had 75 offensive rebounds and 147 defensive rebounds averaging 10.1 rebounds per game. The senior finished his season with 23 assists, 13 steals and 27 blocks.
