The Waukee Warriors boys track team competed at the 24th Iowa State Boys High School Classic at Iowa State University on Mar. 13.
Dan Blocker and Chaise Russell were the first two Warriors to run at the meet. Blocker placed fifth in the 60 meter dash with his time of 7.22 seconds, Russell followed with a time of 7.39.
The 400 meter race was run by Aaron McCrary and Blake Espland. McCrary had a time of 54.15 that put him in 36th place. Espland finished in 68th place when he ran a 57.04.
Moe Smith finished the 1600 meter run in 4:47.06 and placed tenth. Ian Buske also ran this race for the Warriors. Buske placed 29th overall with a time of 4:56.08.
The 3200 meter run was up next. Warrior Jackson Lewis finished the race with a time of 9:36.85 and placed second. The second Warrior in the 3200 meter race was Nathan Sanders, who finished the race in just over ten minutes and placed 14th.
With a time of 9.14 seconds, Tyler Williams placed 32nd in the 60 meter hurdles. McCrary ran the race in 9:32 seconds and placed 42nd.
The three relay races of this meet were the 4x400, the 4x800 and the 1600 sprint medley relays. The Warriors 4x400 relay team placed second with their final time of 3:29.23, they ran a 3:37.20 in the 1600 sprint medley relay race to place first and finished in tenth in the 4x800 with a time of 8:37.65.
Both of the high jumpers for the Warriors placed eighth. Owen Minshall and Wilson Lerenz both had a height of 5’10” in this event.
Jacob Cubacub competed in the long jump for the Warriors. Cubacub finished the event with a final jump of 20”3.25”.
The last event of the meet was the shot put. Mason Hale threw the shot put for the Warriors and placed 30th with his throw of 42’5”.
This was the Warriors last indoor meet, their next meet is a home meet on Thursday, March 23 at 4 p.m.
