The Waukee Warriors girls track team traveled to Iowa State University to run at the 24th Iowa State Girls High School Classic indoor meet on Monday, Mar. 13.


The meet began with the 60 meter dash. Kate Bannister was one of the Warriors to run this race. Bannister finished in 14th with her time of 8.45 seconds. Delaney Taylor was the second Warrior in the race, she finished in 18th with her time of 8.53 seconds.


Sydney Schaffer placed ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.07. Right behind Sydney was Abby Benson in tenth with her final time of 2:30.46.


The 1500 meter run was the third event of the meet. Isabelle Schaffer and Odessa Neeley were the two Warriors in this race. With a time of 5:23.67, Isabelle placed 12th and Neeley placed 19th with her time of 5:30.16.


In 16th place of the 3000 meter run was Ally Schaffer, who finished with in 11:46.43. Brooke Trampel also ran the 3000 meter race, she placed 17th with a time of 11:51.88.


Warrior Lauren Nelson placed first in the 60 meter hurdles. She ran the race in 9.47 seconds.


The relay races were up next in the meet. The 4x400 relay was first, the Warriors finished in fifth place with a time of 4:12.40. In the 4x800 the Warriors’ relay team ran a 10:29.59 to place seventh overall. The last relay was the 800 sprint medley. The Warriors finished in tenth and had a time of 1:58.54.


Nelson was also in the high jump for the Warriors. She placed fifth with a height of 5’2”.


Janjay Peters placed 29th in the long jump event with her final jump of 14’0.75”. Drees placed 39th in the event when she finished with a 13’3.75”.


Kat Moody and Moe Nealey were the two Warriors in the shot put event. Moody threw a 39’11” to place first and Nealey placed third with her throw of 38 feet.


The Warriors next meet in on Saturday, Mar. 18 at Central College in Pella at 10:00 a.m. This will be the Warriors final indoor meet.
