The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers girls’ track team traveled to run at the Central College indoor meet on Saturday, March 18. This was this Tigers’ final indoor meet.

“Many girls ran their first high school meet and I was pleased with their start, overall it was a good start,” Coach Bart Mueller said. “I’m looking forward to having the entire team back from spring break this week.”

Of the Tigers that ran at the meet, Anna Kenny was the one to steal the show. She placed second in the 400 meter dash when she ran a 1:03.27. She also placed seventh in the 60 meter dash with her time of 8.45 seconds. Kenny ran in place of Keaton Kester in the 200 meter dash. She finished this race in tenth place with her final time of 28.52 seconds.

Ellise Mueller then placed 17th in the 800 meter run. She finished the race in 2:47.02. Mueller also ran the 1500 meter race, she had a time of 5:52.52 that put her in 21st place.

Sydney Manning, Mueller, Abigail Calligan and Holland Zwank made up the Tigers’ 4x200 relay team. The four Tigers ran a 2:09.45 that put them in 23rd.

“Right now there is a lot of positive energy and team chemistry going back to the last two seasons,” said Mueller. “The girls are putting in some good workouts. This time of the year we focus a lot on strength and stamina work, our hurdlers and throwers are starting some technical work too. We hope to have our new girls and freshman find out where they can contribute and excel as a varsity athlete and start to determine some of the relay spots. We are working to replace two very strong runners with multiple State places and school records from Brianna Mueller and 2016 100 meter hurdle State Champ Maggi Bjustrom.”

The Tigers first meet will be on Monday, March 27 in Earlham at 4:45 p.m.
