OGDEN — A week after taking first place at the South Hamilton Invite, the Madrid girls’ track and field team put on another impressive showing at the Ogden Girls Relays on Thursday.

The Tigers finished in second place with a team score of 140, 80 points behind first-place Gilbert. The Ogden girls finished third with 75.

Madrid’s Rylan Santi continued her strong start the season. Santi finished first in the 100-meter dash with a 12.53-second time — a meet record. She also won the 200-meter dash, crossing the line with a 26.15-second time — another meet record.

Santi also boosted the Tigers in the relays. Santi, running as the anchor, ran with Hunter Raymond, Anna Owensby and Victoria Jacobs in the 4-by-200-meter relay. They found little resistance, finishing first in 1 minute, 48.91 seconds, about nine seconds better than second place Gilbert.

The same group won the 4-by-100 relay for Madrid in 52 seconds flat.

The Tigers won their fifth event in the 4-by-800-meter relay. The team of Shelbi Raymond, Lauren Horn, Trinity Heeren and Alex Jacobs crossed the line at 11:01.79.

The Ogden girls found their success in the field events. Charlie Klauenberg earned a first place finish in the shot put, throwing 36 feet, 2 inches. In the high jump, Myra Bolton earned a personal record by clearing 4 feet, 11 inches.

Gilbert dominated throughout the meet, winning 11 events.

Madrid’s girls will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Gilbert. Ogden girls’ track and field will be at Southeast Valley at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
