The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers girls’ track team traveled to Waukee for the Waukee Girls Relays on Thursday, April 13. The Tigers competed alongside seven other teams and placed fourth overall with 67 team points.

Keaton Kester and Sadie Juergens were the only two Tigers to finish in first place at the invitational. Kester finished the 100 meter dash in 12.30 seconds and Juergens ran the 800 meter run in 2:20.16.

The Tigers 4x200 relay team of Anna Kenny, Olivia Anderson, Sami Schepers and Kester placed second with their time of 1:50.25.

Josi Lonneman, Schepers, Kenny and Anderson made up the Tigers’ 4x100 relay team. The four runners placed third with a time of 50.83 seconds, just one second behind first place.

The Tigers’ sprint medley and distance medley teams took fourth place at the meet. The sprint medley team ran the race in 1:53.30 and the distance medley finished in 4:46.72.

Kenny also placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles when she ran a time of 1:11.49.

With a time of 5:39.12, Ellise Mueller placed fifth in the 1500 meter run for the Tigers.

In sixth place of the long jump was Lonneman. She finished the event with a jump of 15’5.75”.

“I was very pleased with the meet overall, performances were strong and times are dropping,” said Coach Bart Mueller. “Keaton Kester won the 100 fairly easy against a competitive field and now has the top time in 3A, Sadie Juergens ran her personal record in the 800 by four seconds and now sits fourth in 3A. Anna Kenny ran the 400 hurdles for her first time and placed fourth and now looks to be a threat in the conference! Our sprint medley, 4x200 and 4x100 relays all ran season bests against strong 4A competition, and our 4x100 is sitting fourth in state in 3A. We still need to improve in field events. Our girls are working hard and having a good time. We are looking forward to qualifying for Drake.”

The Tigers have a meet today, April 17, at Greene County at 5 p.m.
