The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tiger track team traveled to Winterset on May 4 for the Raccoon River Conference Meet. The girls’ track team finished the meet in second place with 140 points behind Carlisle. The boys’ team finished in fifth with 60 points and tied with Bondurant-Farrar.


Keaton Kester was the only individual on the girls’ team to finish in first place. The Tiger finished the 100 meter dash in 12.17 seconds, which set the school record. She also finished the 200 meter dash in 25.01 seconds.


Josi Lonneman also ran the 100 meter dash and placed fourth with her time of 13.20 seconds and Elle Hook ran the 200 meter dash and finished in 27.58 seconds for fourth place.


The Tigers’ 4x100 and 4x400 relays teams also placed first. the 4x100 team ran a time of 51.02 seconds and the 4x400 team had a time of 4:12.85.


Sadie Juergens also did well in all of her events. Juergens placed second in her 800 meter race and her 3000 meter race. In the 800 meter run she finished with a time of 2:28.93 and she finished the 3000 meter run in 11:33.08. Juergens ran the 1500 meter run as well, in which she finished in third place with her time of 5:22.92.


Juergens was the anchor for the second place distance medley team for the Tigers. Lizzy Lohmann, Sami Schepers, Olivia Anderson and Juergens finished the race with a time of 4:32.16.


Anna Kenny and Elle Hook both ran the 400 meter dash, the Tigers finished in second and third places. Kenny ran a 1:01.69 and Hook ran a time of 1:03.24.


Kenny also ran the 400 meter hurdles in which she place third with a time of 1:11.14. Schepers ran the 100 meter hurdles for the Tigers. Schepers placed third with her time of 16.04 seconds.


“Sadie Juergens ran four miles in competition and showed she is one of the top distance runners in the conference,” said girls’ coach Bart Mueller. “Anna Kenny had a strong night running three 400s and an 800. Freshman Elle Hook, Lizzy Lohmann and Josi Lonneman continue to improve and have become strong varsity athletes.”


The girls’ relays teams all finished well. The 4x800 team finished second with a time of 10.29.00, the sprint medley team also placed second with their time of 1:54.27. The 4x200 and the shuttle hurdle teams were the only two to place third. The 4x200 ran a 1:54.95 and the shuttle hurdle ran a 1:10.29.


“I am proud of our girls and how they gave Carlisle a run for their money,” said Mueller. “Several girls competed in four tough events for the team to score as many points as possible. We took second with an impressive 140 points, enough to win most meets. We lost by 34 points but actually scored more points on the track as we got beat by 38 points in the field events. We will work to improve our field events in the future to go for a conference title next season.”


Boys at RRC


The boys’ 4x200 team of Kade Barcus, Austin Flora, David Howard and Trey Volz place first. This was the only race in which the Tigers’ place first. the four boys’ ran a time of 1:34.06.


Jacob West and Mason Warmuth were the only two individual to place second for the boys’ team. West competed in the high jump at the meet and finished with a six foot even jump. Warmuth had s throw of 134’9” in the discus for his second place. Warmuth also placed third in the shot put when he threw a 41’06”. Reece McLaughlin also placed fourth in the long jump at the meet with his jump of 20’4.5”.


Barcus, Volz, Howard and McLaughlin ran the sprint medley for the Tigers. The four placed second in the race behind Perry with a time of 1:37.91.


The Tigers’ 4x100 and 4x400 team placed fourth overall. The 4x100 team ran a time of 46.31 seconds and the 4x400 relay team finished the race in 3:37.63.


Both the girls’ and boys’ teams have their district meet on Thursday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m. in Norwalk.
