Three track athletes, from the Waukee State Runner-Up boys’ track team, added three athletes to the list of Waukee athletes that will compete in a college sport next year. Josh Andrews, Jackson Lewis, and Jacob Cubacub all signed letters of intent this week.
Andrews, a middle distance standout for the Warriors, signed to run for the University of Iowa. He was the Drake Relays and State Meet Champion in the 800 meters this spring and ran on the Drake Relays and State Champion 4x800 relay team. A four year varsity letter winner, Andrews earned All-State honors in each of his four seasons running for the Warriors. The ten-time state medalist was also named the Iowa High School Sports Network/Pizza Ranch MVP of the 2017 Class 4A State Meet.
Lewis signed to run cross country and track at Arizona State University. He is a four year letter winner in cross country and track. He ranks #3 on the Waukee All-Time list in the 3200 meter run and #5 in the 1600 meter run. He is a two-time Drake Relays and State Meet qualifier
Cubacub, a long jump specialist will compete next year at Graceland College in Lamoni. He emerged this spring as one of the top long jumpers in central Iowa. He was the Conference and State Qualifying Meet Champion and had a personal best jump of 21 feet 8 inches.
