The 2017 Girls’ State Golf Meet was held this last Tuesday and Wednesday (May 30-31), Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Van Meter and Waukee each had golfers at the meet.

Waukee’s entire golf team qualified for the State Meet. As a team, the girls’ placed second in Class 5A with their total of 651 strokes.

Brooke Boardman was the leader for Waukee. She tied for fifth with her total of 148 strokes.

Grace Gallagher placed tenth at the State Meet. Gallagher had 81 strokes in the first round and 79 in the second for her total of 160 strokes.

In 17th place was Madalyn McCartan. She had 169 strokes after scoring 88 in the first round and 81 strokes in the second round.

Katelyn Mardis was next for Waukee. Mardis had 175 strokes and placed 22nd. The final two were Elle Kramer placed and Jessey Wyzgowski. Kramer placed 24th with 179 strokes and Wyzgowski followed in 25th place with 180 strokes.

A-D-M’s Lindsay Lange, a four-time state qualifier, finished the meet in 18th place in Class 4A. Lange had 101 strokes in the first round and 90 strokes in the second round for her final 191 strokes at the meet.

Molly Carey was the only golfer from Van Meter to compete at the State Meet. Carey placed tenth in Class 2A when finished the second day with 176 strokes.
