The Waukee Warriors softball team played a double header against the Valley Tigers on Monday, June 19. The Warriors won the first game 1-0 and lost the second 6-5.

The Warriors scored their only run in the sixth inning. Logan Akason was the one to score, she also had one hit and was walked to base once during the first game.

Morgan Nealey had the only RBI for the Warriors in the first game. Nealey had two of the Warriors’ seven hits and was also walked to base once.

Kasey Costa also had two hits, Taylor Delaney and Natalie Wellet had one each to finish up the Warriors’ seven hits of the game.

Sarah Schaefer, the Warriors’ pitcher for the first game, only gave up three hits and had three strikeouts in the first game.

Although the Warriors lost, the second game was definitely the better of the two.

The Warriors began the game by leading by four runs by the bottom of the second inning. The Tigers didn’t get the lead until the sixth inning when they scored three of their six runs.

Schaefer led the Warriors this game when she got on base all three times she was up to bat. Schaefer had one hit, was walked to base one hit a home run. Schaefer finished the game with one RBI and scored two of the Warriors five runs.

Nealey also took advantage of the three times she was up to bat. Nealey hat two hits and a home run as well. Nealey scored one run and had two RBIs for the Warriors.

Grace Clouser and Delaney each had one run in the second game. Delaney also finished the game with two hits and one RBI.

Kelli Fogt had two of the Warriors seven hits in the second game as well as on RBI.

The Warriors finished the double header by winning one game and losing another. The Warriors will be playing Ames next on Wednesday, June 21 at 6:00 p.m.
