The Fillies of Dallas Center-Grimes had a double header against the Grinnell Tigers on Wednesday, June 21. The Fillies ended up winning both games.
The Fillies earned their first of five runs of the first game in the second inning and added two more on in the third. The Fillies held the lead, winning the game 5-1, only allowing the Tigers to score in the fourth inning.
In the second game, the Fillies allowed the Tigers three runs. The Fillies earned the lead early in the game, though, with four runs to the Tigers one by the bottom of the third inning. The Fillies ended up winning the second game by just three runs (6-3).
Gabi Rodrigues was the Fillies leader of both games. Rodriguez scored a total of two runs, both of which were home runs. Rodriguez also had two hits per game and a total of three RBIs.
Freshman Riley Hall pitched the first game for the Fillies. She gave up five hits, one run, walked one batter and threw three strikeouts.
Lani Gannon pitched for the Fillies’ second game. She gave up five hits, three runs, walked two batters and threw two strikeouts.
The Fillies now hold a 14-12 season record and will be playing Indianola on Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m.
