The Van Meter Bulldogs baseball team had their second loss of the season to the Saydel Eagles on June 23. The 7-5 was also the Bulldogs second loss of the season.

The Bulldogs started the game off strong with their first four runs in the first inning and their fifth run in the second. Unfortunately, they couldn’t score again, allowing the Eagles to catch up at get the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Carson Rhodes and Drew Gordon were the leaders of the game against the Eagles. Rhodes had one hit and two RBIs, while Gordon had one hit and one RBI. Both Bulldogs scored one run.

Owen Crawford, Anthony Lowman and JJ Durflinger were the other three Bulldogs to score. Durflinger had one hit against the Eagles.

Of the Bulldogs’ six hits, Sam Thompson had two hits and Connor Guess had one hit.

Brady O’Brien had one of the four RBIs for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs have a game on July 26 against Des Moines Christian at 5:15 p.m.
