The Waukee Warriors played the Winterset Huskies on Friday, June 23. The Warriors held on to their winning season record with a 6-2 victory over the Huskies.
The Huskies were able to stop the Warriors up until the bottom of the fourth inning, where they scored three runs. In the fifth inning, both teams finished scoring when the Huskies scored their two runs and the Warriors added on another three runs. Both teams couldn’t score the last two innings, ending the game.
Warrior Kelli Fogt had one hit and two RBIs at the end of the game. She also had one home run to score her one run of the game.
Molly Platte had one hit, two doubles and was walked to base once by the Huskies. Platte also scored on run for the Warriors.
Mary Kate Gray and courtesy runners Grace Clouser and Breanne Bingaman had the last four runs for the Warriors.
Morgan Nealey had two hits, two doubles and four RBIs for the Warriors against the Huskies.
Sarah Schaefer had one hit to finish up the Warriors’ total of five. Schaefer also pitched for the Warriors. She allowed seven hits and two runs and had nine strikeouts for an ERA of 2.00.
After the 6-2 victory, the Warriors hold a season record of 26-2. The Warriors will be playing a double header against Southeast Polk today, June 26 at 6:00 p.m.
