The Waukee Warriors softball team played a double header against the Ankeny Hawks on Wednesday, June 28. The Warriors won both games and only allowed the Hawks two runs total.


The first game the Warriors won 10-0, ending the game in the fifth inning.


Kelli Fogt led the first game for the Warriors when she scored two runs, one of which was a home run. Fogt also had two hits, a double and three RBIs.


Delaney Taylor also scored two runs and had two hits. Grace Foxen was the leading scorer of the game when she scored three of the Warriors’ ten runs.


Sarah Schaefer was the pitcher for the first game. Schaefer pitched all five innings, only allowed one hit and struck out two batters.


The second game was much closer with a final score of 4-2.


Schaefer was the leader of the second game for the Warriors. She finished the game with one run after hitting a home run. Schaefer also had one hit and three RBIs.


Logan Akason, Delaney and Grace Clouser each had one run to finish up the Warriors’ four. Akason and Delaney also had one hit.


On offense, Emma Richards had one hit, one double and one RBI for the Warriors. Richards also pitched all seven innings of the second game. She allowed seven hits, two runs, walked one batter and had four strikeouts.


The Warriors won the first game 10-0 and the second game 4-2. The Warriors will be playing tonight, June 29, in Urbandale at 5:00 p.m.
